About Us

The Classic City Band of Athens, Georgia is the "Official Municipal Band of Athens, Georgia" and Georgia's oldest continuously operating community band. The Band, founded in 1976 for the purpose of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the American concert band, is comprised of 80+ serious amateur musicians, 14 years and older, from across Northeast Georgia who play for the love of music. In addition to our Concert Band, we also have Big Band Athens, and the Classic City Polka Band. We are a registered non-profit that gives free concerts throughout the year in Athens, Georgia and surrounding communities.

Reach

Sponsorship is offered as an annual package with a reach of 1800-2000 event attendees over the five Concert Band events. Social media reach (Facebook, more than 5,000/month; Instagram, 3,000/month.)

Audience Demographics

Our audience is family-oriented and most live in Athens-Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Morgan, Oconee, and Oglethorpe counties.

Community Impact

We present five Concert Band programs annually showcasing a wide variety of band literature, provide opportunities for individuals to perform, and serve as an extra-curricular activity for high school students from Athens-Clarke and surrounding counties. Additionally, we inspire the next generation of artists and foster creativity by commissioning and performing works from up-and-coming composers. Join us in making a difference! ---
